Client Highlight: Grounding

Founded in 2007 by industry luminary Yukio Futatsugi, Grounding is a diverse developer headquartered in Fukuoka and with branch offices in both Tokyo and Kyoto.

Staffed by industry veterans who hail from companies such as Sega and Microsoft, Grounding is unique in its ability to develop games in both the digital space (covering all platforms from mobile to PC to console to VR) and the physical space, where they publish their own original tabletop and card games. Their biggest board game release to date is Machi Koro, which has enjoyed success in 19 countries and was nominated for and won multiple awards in France and Germany.

In the digital realm, Grounding focuses on stylized visuals reminiscent of Japanese anime and has also partnered with other industry titans to produce VR iterations of classic IP like Street Fighter and Space Channel 5 as well as indie projects like The Good Life with White Owls Inc. Grounding believes that a solid gameplay design foundation is essential for any project’s success and you can feel this craftsmanship and dedication to play fundamentals every time you enjoy one of their games.
