Monument Valley Sales

In a generous disclosure, developer Ustwo released an infographic with sales numbers from its award-winning hit game, Monument Valley. Over the course of two years, the premium mobile game, which now sells for $3.99, earned nearly $14.4 million and was officially downloaded over 26.1 million times. In its second year, the game achieved 88% and 44% of its reported total downloads and revenue. Of the total downloads, 80% were free downloads. Free iOS Week and Amazon Underground are included sources as well as iDreamsky for distribution in China, which alone accounted for 45% of all downloads. Though iOS downloads were nearly 46%, iOS was the leading platform for revenues at 73% followed by Google Play at 17%.

Additionally, Ustwo included a revenue graphic which clearly shows spikes in revenue connected to different milestones. Being featured in the Netflix TV show House of Cards helped the studio achieve nearly $65,000 in one day, Ustwo’s second highest day of revenue. Peaks from their sales promotions on specific platforms, such as 99 Cents Week on iOS, boosted sales on other platforms as well.
