A fan of gaming who grew up reading about E3 in Gamepro, I was fascinated with the industry aspect of video games from an early age. Life took me from an early post-college career path in banking to following my passions working in the Film/TV industry. However, after seeing the innovation and creativity behind Naughty Dogs Uncharted 2, I decided to see how I could be part of that world.
I entered the gaming industry in 2010 as a game journalist and video producer for the influential gaming site Destructoid. During this time, I created content for the site featuring many of the people I grew up respecting in entertainment, including John Romero, John Carpenter, and Llyod Kaufman. Being in San Francisco, the hub of internet innovation at the time, I saw how the gaming industry was a major part of that push and I co-founded the Destructoid Justin.tv channel which would then go on to be one of the earliest Twitch success stories.
Pushing the possibilities around the intersection of innovation, creativity, and interactive media continued to be the driving factor for my involvement in the gaming industry. After the launch of the Oculus DK1, I founded a VR website called CatsAndVR. The site’s success eventually led me to do a VR activation for Fox Sports at Super Bowl LI, engage with industry legends like Jason Rubin and John Carmack, and take the plunge into the world of development as part of the Oculus Launch Pad program. These experiences drove a deep and a profound respect for the gaming industry into me and a great appreciation for the game development process.
Joining DDM in 2018, I have contributed to the company’s innovative global outlook of the industry. I have led the charge at DDM for various new initiatives in VR, Web3, mobile, and emerging platforms. I have also seen clients grow significantly in size and development capabilities via deals secured and investment facilitated. My role at DDM is not just to find projects for development studio clients, but to cultivate long term relationships with these teams and their partners in order to bring continued opportunities to them and value to the industry.
In the modern world, video games and gaming are broad and diverse terms that reach into the everyday lives of many. From a business perspective, gaming provides a roof over the head and food on the plates for so many families. I approach my relationship-building in that regard – I don’t try to get just any project signed but to help cultivate a nourishing environment for the continued growth and cultivation of our clients and for the gaming industry as a whole.
