In Japan, there’s a saying that once you enter the gaming industry, you can never leave…
The gaming industry is vast, international, dynamic, and full of opportunities. It’s also an industry full of talented creators and people constantly pursuing challenges and creativity. The opportunity to work with such individuals is what makes this industry so captivating—and, in my case, impossible to leave. I am one of those people who has been completely immersed in the gaming world.
My journey in the gaming industry began in 2015 when my father founded a game development company. I started as a QA tester at his company. As someone who couldn’t code or design, the QA field—where various elements of development converge—was the perfect place for me to learn the craft of game-making.
Since then, I’ve been fortunate enough to experience various roles in the industry: game producer, entrepreneur and CEO of a developer and publisher, as well as an investor supporting startups focused on creating new IPs.
While I’ve always aimed to support as many publishers and developers as possible and to create amazing games, the role I’ve personally been most passionate about is business development. Supporting studios on an international level and securing diverse deals is a role I’ve continuously pursued – and DDM is the best company for advancing the business development in the gaming industry.
As the head of DDM’s Japan office, I spend much of my time working closely with local creators and connecting them into this international industry. Thanks to the many business opportunities our team has developed, we’ve been able to create numerous projects. I hope that, even in a small way, DDM has contributed to the local ecosystem and through it to the gaming industry as a whole.
Game production and business are never easy and always come with challenges, and I believe that’s what makes the gaming industry so exciting—and so hard to leave!
