Consulting Executive Highlight: John O’Connell

DDM is excited to announce an expanded collaboration with John O’Connell, who, along Mike Romo and Conor Kilpatrick, unite like Voltron to further bolster the Los Angeles-based Consulting team.  John has guided and brought together Fortune 500 innovators like AT&T, Cisco, HP and P&G with Call of Duty, NBA 2K, Splinter Cell, and World of WarCraft. He is an industry advocate who started his career in production with Tecmo around beloved franchises with teams shipping critically acclaimed games across console, portable and mobile. This led John into consulting opportunities serving clients including Nintendo, PlayStation and Riot Games, while establishing Omnicom agency’s gaming practice and his consultancy, knight’s path.

John is an advisor to indies, startups, and ally advisor to 501c3 Women In Games International (WIGI). He recently spent over 100 hours approaching the gate in Western Faerûn and credits playing D&D with his legal team IRL as a key to success. As father of two young daughters, he is more likely to be found supporting them advance through Princess Peach Showtime or refereeing AYSO games on the weekends.

Given a flight delay en route to an industry conference (where he’s looking forward to meeting in person!) John probably read through the first chapters of a new cyberpunk novel before the guilt of not catching up on our industry friends’ podcasts kicked in, in which he smiled as they more than likely discussed a game beloved by players that DDM helped bring to market. He’s looking forward to collaborating moving forward and making it possible to bring those memorable moments to players together.
